The SIA is the organization responsible for regulating the security industry according to the requirements set out by the Private Security Industry act 2001.

It is the goal of the SIA to create a security industry authority that is a model of good regulation and internationally recognized as a major contributor to the quality and effectiveness of the private security industry thus helping to reduce crime, disorder and the fear of crime.
